Amgen and ShanghaiTech University announce programs for Amgen China R&amp.

Amgen and ShanghaiTech University talk about mutual goals of scientific excellence and rigor and can benefit from each other’s power and experience in advancing biopharmaceutical discovery in China, said Sean E. Harper, M.D., executive vice president of Research and Advancement at Amgen. Expansion into China is normally a business concern for Amgen and starting this R&D center is another very clear and important step forward in Amgen’s commitment to the China market. Under the conditions of the MOU, Amgen will co-locate its China R&D center with ShanghaiTech University’s two life technology institutes: the Shanghai Institute for Advanced Immunochemical Studies and the iHuman Institute. We are pleased to be partnering with Amgen, said Professor Mianheng Jiang, chairman of Executive Committee of ShanghaiTech University.This is the most extensive research using the electronic nasal area to show that the technique could possibly be an accurate way for lung cancer screening.
